WANA (May 11) – Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, has outlined “10 strategic points regarding the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz” in his recent remarks — points largely focused on regional security, the role of the Strait of Hormuz in international affairs, and the reduction of U.S. presence in the Persian Gulf.

In these statements, he described the Persian Gulf as one of the world’s most strategically important regions and emphasized that the security of the area should be managed by the countries of the region themselves.

Within this framework, Khamenei referred to the significance of the Strait of Hormuz in the global economy and international security, describing the management of this strategic waterway as part of the formation of a new regional order.

He stressed that cooperation among neighboring countries could create a future marked by stability, prosperity, and progress for the peoples of the region.

The ten points are as follows:

  1. The presence and entrenchment of American foreign forces in the Persian Gulf region is the main source of insecurity in the area.
  2. America’s fragile military bases are incapable of guaranteeing even their own security.
  3. The Persian Gulf region has a bright future without the United States — a future dedicated to the progress, comfort, and prosperity of its nations.
  4. Iran and its neighbors in the waters of the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman share a common destiny.
  5. Hostile foreign powers have no place in the Persian Gulf except at the bottom of its waters.
  6. The chain of victories of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the Persian Gulf signals the emergence of a new regional and global order.
  7. Securing the Persian Gulf region is a practical expression of gratitude for Iran’s management of the Strait of Hormuz.
  8. Preventing hostile enemies from exploiting the Strait of Hormuz.
  9. Creating prosperity and progress for the nations of the region through legal frameworks and a new system of management for the Strait of Hormuz.
  10. Bringing economic benefits to the Iranian people through the new management of the Strait of Hormuz.
