1,142 Iranian Researchers Among Top 1% Globally in 2025
WANA (Nov 26) – According to analyses by the Islamic World Science Citation and Monitoring Institute (ISC), a total of 1,142 Iranian researchers have been recognized in 2025 as part of the top 1% of highly cited researchers worldwide.
The Essential Science Indicators (ESI) database publishes lists of highly cited researchers every two months, based on a 10-year analysis.
Researchers in each field are evaluated according to the number of citations their work has received in the Web of Science database, with the highest-cited scholars designated as the top 1% globally.
The main criterion for inclusion in this list is the total number of citations accrued by a researcher’s scientific output. Those who have received the most citations over the past decade are classified among the world’s most highly cited researchers.
The ISC report further details that the 1,142 Iranian researchers recognized in 2025 span 22 scientific and social science disciplines, presented across six lists covering the period from November 2024 to September 2025.
This achievement underscores Iran’s growing impact in global high-impact research and its contribution to advancing knowledge across multiple disciplines.
