12 Iranian Films to Screen at Barcelona Asian Film Festival
WANA (Oct 29) – The 13th Asian Film Festival Barcelona (AFFBCN) in Spain will showcase 12 films by Iranian filmmakers and feature two Iranians on the jury panel. The event runs from October 29 to November 9, 2025.
In the Official Competition section, two Iranian co-productions will compete:
- “Me, Maryam, the Kids and 26 Others” directed by Farshad Hashemi (Iran–Germany–Czech Republic)
- “The Witness” directed by Nader Saeivar (Iran–Germany–Austria)
In other categories, Iranian cinema will be represented across several sections:
- Panorama Section: “Three Days and Three Killers” and “That Summer” by Mahmoud Kalari
- Discoveries Section: “6 A.M.” by Mehran Modiri, “Cold Sigh” by Nahid Azizi Sedigh, and “In the Arms of a Tree” by Babak Khajeh Pasha
- NETPAC Section: “From Love” by Amir Hossein Saghafi and “Root Canal”
- Special Screenings: “Fear and Trembling” by Manijeh Hekmat and Fa’ezeh Zizkhani, the documentary “I Am Grown Up Too” by Atieh Zare Arandi (Iran–Belgium), and “Tehran: An Unfinished History” by Saeed Nouri
The festival also announced that Saeed Nouri will serve as a jury member in the Panorama section, while Mana Salehi will join the NETPAC jury.
The Barcelona Asian Film Festival is one of Europe’s leading showcases for Asian cinema, highlighting the diversity, creativity, and cultural dialogue of filmmakers across the continent.
