WANA (Mar 28) – The Public Relations of Fajr Corps of Fars has announced the discovery and destruction of 122 cluster bombs across the province.

According to the statement, these cluster bombs were dropped a few days ago by U.S.-Israeli enemy fighter jets on innocent people in the village of Kafri, Shiraz, and one of the other counties.

Evidence of War Crimes

The Fajr Corps stated: “This is another document of the war crimes committed by the U.S.-Israeli enemy, which has once again been recorded in history and exposed to the freedom-seekers of the world.”

Preliminary reports identify these munitions as BLU-108 submunitions from the American CBU-105 cluster bomb.

Technical Specifications

The official report detailed the mechanics of the weaponry used in the attack:

Payload: Each 1,000-pound CBU-105 cluster bomb contains 10 BLU-108 anti-armor submunitions.

Components: Each submunition includes an altimeter radar, a rocket motor, and four canister-shaped “Skeet” shaped charges. In total, each CBU-105 cluster bomb carries 40 Skeets.

Targeting: These Skeets are equipped with passive thermal sensors to identify armored equipment and other vehicles like trucks. If no target is identified, the Skeets are programmed to explode at a pre-determined time.

Casualties and Neutralization Efforts

The report confirmed that these munitions were dropped on innocent people, leading to the martyrdom and injury of several citizens in Fars Province.

Through the efforts of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams of the Fars provincial combat units, 122 cluster bombs have been discovered and neutralized around Shiraz and other counties so far.

Authorities warned that these packages, which resemble cans and are larger than a tuna can, contain explosives and detonate upon opening.
