WANA (Jun 17) – The Civil Aviation Organization of Iran has successfully relocated 133 aircraft from Imam Khomeini and Mehrabad airports to secure domestic locations following recent military conflicts, according to agency head Abazar Shiroudi.

 

Key measures detailed by officials include:

 

Fleet Protection: 133 aircraft evacuated in coordination with the Armed Forces General Staff. In-flight aircraft were grounded at the nearest safe airports, and 36 permits were issued to temporarily station aircraft abroad.

 

Infrastructure Damage: Strikes targeted airports, control towers, radar equipment, and several aircraft. Despite the disruption, operations for the Hajj pilgrimage continued uninterrupted.

 

Legal Action: Iran has sent 25 correspondences to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and held two online meetings.

 

Shiroudi condemned the strikes on civilian aviation infrastructure as war crimes, confirming that all damages have been fully documented and expert-reviewed for presentation at the upcoming ICAO Council meeting to seek damages.
