17,000 Killed in U.S.-Backed Terror in Iran Since Islamic Revolution
WANA (Nov 04) – Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari, Deputy Coordinator of the Iranian Army, stated that following the Islamic Revolution, the United States orchestrated systematic assassinations and terrorist activities in Iran. He noted that from the start of the revolution to the present, more than 17,000 Iranians — including both citizens and national elites — have been killed in terror attacks.
Speaking at the National Day of the Fight Against Global Arrogance rally (November 4), Sayyari described global arrogance as the primary force behind foreign interference and the imposition of the Pahlavi monarchy on Iran. He emphasized that the Iranian nation has always stood — and will continue to stand — against hegemonic powers.
Historical Significance of November 4
Sayyari highlighted three historic events associated with November 4:
- 1964 exile of Imam Khomeini for opposing the Capitulation Law,
- 1978 student killings,
- 1979 U.S. embassy takeover.
He described the day as a symbol of Iran’s resistance to foreign domination.

Qalibaf: “‘Death to America’ Is a Cry of Rationality Against Domination”
WANA (Nov 04) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, in his speech at the rally marking the National Day of the Fight Against Global Arrogance, described the November 4 as “not a historical event, but a living truth.” He said that on this day, the Iranian nation “declared once and for all that they […]
Capitulation Law and Foreign Control
Explaining the Capitulation Law, Sayyari said that American citizens in Iran were immune from prosecution, reducing the dignity of the Iranian people “to the level of savages,” despite Iran being “the cradle of human civilization.”
He added that over 60,000 foreign advisors were present in critical sectors — from the economy to the military — influencing national decisions, which prompted Imam Khomeini’s opposition and eventual exile.
From Revolution to Victory Against Plots
Following the victory of the Islamic Revolution, foreign advisors fled, and Iran regained control of its destiny. Sayyari explained that the U.S., having lost its “illegitimate interests,” attempted to sabotage the revolution through ethnic and sectarian unrest, targeted assassinations, and the imposition of an eight-year war.
He stated that Saddam Hussein acted as a proxy for both the U.S. and the Soviet Union, receiving military support from East and West, but Iran emerged victorious thanks to Imam Khomeini’s leadership and the resolve of Iranian youth.

From the 1979 Embassy Takeover to the 12-Day War
WANA (Oct 04) – In his recent speech to Israeli military officials, Donald Trump declared: “We are ready whenever the Iranians are ready… our hand is open… they want to make a deal; it would be great if we could make one.” The statement was soon met with a firm response from the Leader of […]
Hybrid Warfare and Regional Conflicts
Sayyari also referred to ongoing political, economic, cultural, media, and cyber attacks against Iran. He noted that the Israeli regime is used as a proxy, but emphasized that global powers have repeatedly failed to undermine the Islamic Revolution.
He cited regional conflicts where, as the Israeli regime neared defeat, the U.S. intervened directly and later sought ceasefires — “similar to what occurred at the end of the imposed war(Iran-Iraq war).”
Standing Firm
Concluding his speech, Sayyari stressed that the Iranian nation, with its historical identity, revolutionary spirit, and devotion to martyrdom, will continue to defend its independence, territorial integrity, and revolutionary ideals in all eras.
The National Day of the Fight Against Global Arrogance is observed annually across Iran on the 13th of Aban. The day commemorates three historical events: the exile of Imam Khomeini in 1964, the killing of protesting students in 1978, and the takeover of the U.S. embassy in 1979. This year’s rallies were held nationwide with large participation from citizens, students, and officials under the slogan: “United and steadfast against arrogance.”
