20% of Vessels Transiting the Strait of Hormuz are Chinese
WANA (Apr 28) – New statistics released regarding the Strait of Hormuz indicate that between March 4 and April 20, a total of 187 vessels transited the waterway.
The data highlights a significant concentration of maritime trade among a select group of nations.
Key Findings:
- China & Hong Kong lead the rankings, accounting for 20.3% of the total traffic.
- Greece follows with a substantial 16% share of maritime transport.
- Iran and the UAE are tied, each representing 12.3% of the transits.
The remaining 39% of traffic is distributed among the rest of the world.
These figures specifically track eastward-bound transits through the strait, underscoring the strategic importance of this corridor for specific global players.
