WANA (Jun 17) – Iran has successfully exported its first cargo of crude oil in two months, following a mutual agreement between Washington and Tehran to lift the U.S. naval blockade, maritime intelligence firm TankerTrackers reported early Wednesday.

 

The breakthrough comes on the heels of a joint announcement by Washington and Tehran on Sunday, declaring an accord to end the United States’ maritime blockade of Iranian ports.

 

Satellites Confirm Supertankers Breaching the Blockade

According to TankerTrackers, data confirmed via satellite imagery shows that at least two Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) owned by the National Iranian Tanker Company (NITC) successfully crossed the former U.S. blockade line.

 

Total Volume: The two supertankers are carrying a combined total of 3.8 million barrels of crude oil.

 

Verification: The shipment was verified utilizing advanced satellite tracking and vessel identification imagery.

 

This shipment marks the official resumption of Iranian crude exports, which had been entirely halted for the past 60 days due to stringent U.S. naval enforcement.
