3 Iranians Named World’s Best at U19 Volleyball Worlds
WANA (Aug 04) – Iran’s middle blocker, libero, and setter have been named among the top performers of the 2025 FIVB Boys’ U19 World Volleyball Championship, which concluded Sunday, August 3, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The tournament, which began on July 24, featured 104 matches and ended with France claiming the championship title. Poland and Spain finished second and third, respectively.
Iran Secures Fourth Place After Strong Run
Team Iran finished in fourth place overall, registering five wins (against Poland, Tunisia, Egypt, Belgium, and Finland) and four losses (twice to Spain, once each to Italy and France).
Spanish standout César Irache Camacho emerged as the tournament’s top scorer with 231 points. Iranian players Mohammad Amin Rahimi and Amir Naderi also ranked high, placing 15th and 16th with 130 and 129 points, respectively.
Iranian Players Shine in Key Positions
- Best Attackers: Camacho also led in average points per game (23.11), while Iran’s Amir Naderi ranked 13th with 13.11 points per game.
- Best Blockers: Pakistan’s Mohammad Saud topped the chart with 3.67 blocks per game, followed closely by Iran’s Nima Bateni with 3.44.
- Best Servers: South Korea’s Kanko Beng led with 2.33 aces per game. Iran’s Armin Asiasi ranked 7th with 1.11.
- Best Setters: Pakistan’s Abu Bakr Siddiq topped the list with 32.78 successful sets per match. Iran’s Arshia Sa’adati ranked 4th with 29.56.
- Best Liberos: Japan’s Ryoto Nakayama led with 12.89 digs per match. Iran’s Mehdi Sakhavi ranked 14th with an average of 7.02.
- Best Receivers: Spain’s Mario Garcia Dominguez led with 7.89 perfect receptions per match, while Iran’s Sakhavi ranked 3rd with 7.11.
Team’s Return to Iran
The Iranian U19 national volleyball team is scheduled to arrive at Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport at 13:30 on Wednesday, August 6.
