Statement by the AEOI Following Attacks on Nuclear Facilities
WANA (Jun 22) – The Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) has issued a statement in response to recent attacks on several of the country’s nuclear facilities. According to the statement, in the early hours of June 22, the nuclear sites in Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan came under “attacks in violation of international law.”
The statement stressed that these attacks occurred despite the fact that the facilities operate under constant supervision by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and within the framework of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). It further criticized the “indifference — if not complicity — of international institutions” in the face of such aggression.
The AEOI also noted that responsibility for the attacks was publicly claimed by the President of the United States on social media, describing the move as “a blatant violation of international law.”
The statement added: “The international community is expected not to remain silent in the face of such unilateral actions that defy established international norms, and to support the Islamic Republic of Iran in asserting its rights.”
Emphasizing the continuation of Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities, the organization affirmed that with the expertise and dedication of thousands of domestic scientists and specialists, the country’s path toward nuclear development will not be halted. Legal measures to pursue accountability for the attacks, the AEOI said, are already underway.
