$600 Million in Damages Following Iranian Missile Strike on Weizmann Institute
WANA (Jun 30) – After a prolonged silence, the Weizmann Institute of Science officially released its preliminary damage assessment today, detailing the extent of destruction inflicted on its infrastructure by the missile strike launched by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) during the 12-day conflict.
According to the report, 112 buildings belonging to the Institute — including 60 laboratory facilities and 52 residential structures — were destroyed in the Iranian missile attack.
In addition, 52 research laboratories and 6 service labs were completely demolished in the strike, leading to the full shutdown of an estimated 20 to 25 percent of the Institute’s operations.
The Weizmann Institute estimates the direct physical damages to buildings and equipment — excluding the loss of research data and lab rental costs — at between $440 million and $600 million.
