A U.S. Analyst’s Sarcastic Take on Trump’s Contradictory Stance on the Strait of Hormuz
WANA (Mar 23) – Lars Christensen, an economic analyst, responded with pointed sarcasm to what he described as Donald Trump’s contradictory remarks regarding recent developments.
Referring to Trump’s conflicting statements, he wrote: “We have effectively won,” “We will be going home soon,” and “The Strait of Hormuz does not matter to us.” Yet minutes later, Trump reportedly called for the “immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz” and threatened military action.
Christensen argued that these positions signal the beginning of a war without a clear objective, emphasizing that the conflict neither aligns with claims of promoting freedom for the Iranian people nor presents any realistic prospect of victory.
He also pointed to precedents in international law, noting that following Russia’s attacks on Ukraine’s power infrastructure, the International Criminal Court opened cases against several Russian military commanders on charges of war crimes.
