WANA (Sep 06) – Major General Ali Abdollahi, Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, said Iran would not surrender to US pressure, stressing that efforts to weaken the country through economic pressure and psychological and cognitive warfare would also fail.

Abdollahi said the United States had expected Iran to surrender before launching its aggression, describing such expectations as a “false illusion” that would never be realized.

He said the US and Israel were seeking to make up for their military and strategic setbacks in confrontations with Iran and regional resistance groups through economic pressure, media warfare and cognitive operations. However, he said Iran would withstand these efforts through national unity, public resilience and government measures.

The Iranian military commander also emphasized the growing importance of the “war of narratives,” saying media and information efforts had become a key part of the broader confrontation. He added that Iran’s armed forces had been able to respond asymmetrically to US and Israeli threats and maintain the initiative.

Abdollahi further said Iran had presented what he described as a new model of resistance to the region and the wider world, predicting that future developments would lead to a decline in US power.

He called for stronger media efforts to counter what Iranian officials describe as cognitive warfare and to maintain public morale amid continued external pressure.
