WANA (Oct 03) – Another oil tanker was hit early Saturday while sailing along the Omani route of the Strait of Hormuz, marking the third tanker reported targeted in the waterway within 24 hours.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said the left side of another tanker was hit early Saturday about four nautical miles east of Oman.

The incident came as fires were still burning aboard two tankers targeted on Friday along the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz.

IRGC spokesman Brig. Gen. Mohammad Mohebi said vessels violating the rules in the Strait of Hormuz would either be hit by Iranian forces or strike mines.

The latest map published by the Washington Institute shows that at least 20 oil tankers had been targeted along the southern route in the month leading up to Friday. According to an analyst at the institute, the targeted tankers were not Iranian.

The developments come as U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly said that the United States controls the Strait of Hormuz and that Iran’s navy has been destroyed.
