WANA (Aug 08) – Satellite imagery reveals that a vessel, identified as likely being an oil tanker, caught fire earlier today while navigating the southern corridor of the Strait of Hormuz.

 

Following the outbreak of the blaze, an emergency response and oil spill containment vessel, the ADNOC SR01, was dispatched to the scene.

 

According to satellite tracking platform Minc OSINT, maritime telemetry indicates the firefighting vessel traveled at speeds up to 30 knots to reach the site of the incident—which was initially flagged by NASA’s FIRMS thermal imaging system.

 

Upon arriving at the target area, the rescue vessel adjusted its speed, safely evacuated the stranded crew members, and subsequently returned toward the United Arab Emirates at 8 knots.
