Any Attack on Iran’s Interests Will Face a “Faster, Heavier and More Painful” Response
WANA (Sep 06) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned on Sunday that any future action against Iran’s interests and security would face a stronger response than in the past.
Speaking during a parliamentary session, Ghalibaf said Iran would no longer limit itself to “proportionate responses,” describing recent Iranian strikes on U.S. bases as “only the beginning.” He said the rules of engagement had changed and warned that any aggression against Iran’s interests and security would receive a “faster, heavier and more painful” response.
Ghalibaf said Iran is currently facing external pressure on three fronts — military, diplomatic and economic — and stressed that Tehran would continue to confront economic pressure alongside its military and diplomatic efforts.
He also described economic pressures as one of Iran’s main challenges, pointing to sharp currency fluctuations, inflation, unemployment and market-management problems as factors placing significant pressure on people’s livelihoods.
He said intensified sanctions aimed at disrupting Iran’s supply chains and energy management required stronger domestic production, greater use of technological capabilities and improved import management.
Ghalibaf also said that while Iranians were prepared to endure pressure from foreign powers and economic difficulties, they would not tolerate mismanagement or inaction by officials. He said the government and other responsible institutions were expected to address economic problems — including currency fluctuations, the supply of essential goods and energy management — more quickly.
The parliament speaker further identified maintaining “internal cohesion” and strengthening Iran’s “external deterrence” as two key factors in confronting foreign pressure, warning that any action that undermines these pillars could weaken Iran’s ability to respond to external threats.
