Araghchi Arrives in Islamabad
WANA (Apr 24) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi arrived in Islamabad today to coordinate bilateral issues and regional developments with senior Pakistani leadership.
Upon arrival, Araghchi was received by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Army Chief General Asim Munir, and Iran’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam.
Araghchi is scheduled to hold meetings with the Prime Minister and other top officials.
In a statement on X, Araghchi underscored the significance of the tour:
“Embarking on timely tour of Islamabad, Muscat, and Moscow. Purpose of my visits is to closely coordinate with our partners on bilateral matters and consult on regional developments. Our neighbors are our priority.”
No U.S. Negotiations Planned
Political analyst Seyed Mohammad Marandi clarified that the visit does not involve direct engagement with the United States.
“The Iranian foreign minister will not hold any negotiations with the Trump regime in Islamabad and will merely convey Iran’s considerations and views regarding the end of the war to the Pakistani side,” Marandi stated, noting the visit serves as a reciprocal response to General Asim Munir’s recent trip to Tehran.
According to reports, the planned schedule, and contrary to some speculations, Araghchi has no plans for meetings with U.S. officials during this trip. However, Islamabad will serve as a communication bridge to “convey” Iran’s considerations for ending conflicts, similar to the messages exchanged during General Asim Munir’s visit to Tehran last week.
Analysts say that the precise selection of these three destinations—Pakistan, Oman, and Russia—carries a strategic message: the creation of a “collective diplomatic movement” to bolster regional security.
Regarding the visit to Oman, the objective is to strengthen regional trust through a long-standing friend of the Islamic Republic of Iran, re-examine “ways to revive peace,” and see the “return of Oman as an active player” in Iran-related developments.
The tour will conclude in Russia. Following the visits to Islamabad and Oman, this final stop sends a clear signal: through this initiative, Iran is prioritizing its strategic partners in the pursuit of lasting peace.
