Araghchi Arrives in Tunisia
WANA (Sep 10) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi arrived in Tunisia early Wednesday morning (September 10) as the second stop of his North Africa tour, following a one-day visit to Egypt. He was officially received at the airport by Tunisian Foreign Minister Mohamed Ali Ennfti, along with Iran’s Ambassador to Tunisia Mir-Masoud Hosseinian and staff of the Iranian Embassy.
During his visit, Araghchi is scheduled to meet with the Tunisian foreign minister and the country’s president to discuss bilateral ties as well as regional and international developments. This marks his first trip to Tunisia since assuming office as Iran’s foreign minister.
In Cairo, Araghchi held talks with Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. He also attended a joint meeting with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi and his Egyptian counterpart to finalize a new cooperation framework with the agency. The session lasted more than three hours, culminating in the signing of a new arrangement with Grossi in response to recent U.S. and Israeli attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei had announced Araghchi’s planned visit to Tunisia during his weekly press briefing on Monday, September 8, noting that further trips could be arranged if necessary, whether for bilateral purposes or broader international consultations.
Araghchi had previously spoken by phone with his Tunisian counterpart in August about Israeli actions in Gaza. Earlier, in March 2025, he also met Ennfti on the sidelines of an extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers in Jeddah, where they discussed bilateral relations and regional developments, with particular focus on the situation in the Palestinian territories.
