WANA (Feb 28) – Following today’s attacks by Israel and the United States against Iran, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, held separate telephone conversations with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Iraq to brief them on the latest developments.

In these discussions, Iran’s Foreign Minister described the military aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran as a clear violation of the fundamental principles of the United Nations Charter and a serious threat to international peace and security. He emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran, in exercising its inherent right of legitimate self-defense, will utilize all its defensive and military capacities to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national security.

Referring to Tehran’s commitment to its good-neighborliness policy, Araghchi stated that Iran remains firmly committed to expanding friendly relations and regional cooperation with all its neighbors. Citing a core principle of international law prohibiting states from participating in acts of aggression against other countries, he underscored the responsibility of regional governments to prevent any misuse of their territory, facilities, or airspace for hostile operations against Iran.

The Foreign Minister also warned that the armed forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, acting within the framework of international law and in the exercise of the right to self-defense, will consider the origin and sources of any aggressive action by the United States and the Israeli regime — as well as any intervention against Iran’s defensive operations — to be legitimate targets.

In conclusion, Araghchi stressed that the war imposed by the United States and the Israeli regime is not solely directed against the Iranian people, but targets the stability and security of the entire region. He stated that all Muslim and regional governments and nations bear a historic responsibility in confronting this shared threat and must act with vigilance and responsibility to stand against the destabilizing policies of the Israeli regime.
