WANA (Jun 02) – During a meeting with the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Cairo, Iran’s Foreign Minister strongly criticized the unfounded allegations contained in the agency’s latest report on Iran’s nuclear program. He stressed that the IAEA must not allow its credibility to be undermined by the political agendas and pressures of certain member states.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran—currently in Cairo for high-level talks with Egyptian officials—met with Rafael Grossi, the IAEA Director General, who is also in the Egyptian capital.

The meeting, which took place at Grossi’s request, saw Araghchi emphasize the IAEA’s and its Director General’s responsibility to carry out their mandated duties professionally. He reiterated his objection to the unsubstantiated claims in the IAEA’s recent report on Iran’s nuclear activities and urged the agency to safeguard its institutional integrity against political influence from select member countries.
