WANA (Aug 21) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi dismissed claims of new, severe economic measures against Iran, describing the recent rhetoric as a rerun of past unsuccessful pressure campaigns by Washington.

 

In a social media post reacting to statements regarding the “most crushing economic operation in history,” Araghchi laid out a timeline of previous U.S. economic and political strategies against Tehran, noting that each attempt ultimately failed to achieve its objectives.

 

“14 years ago: ‘Most crippling sanctions in history.’ Failed. 8 years ago: ‘Maximum pressure.’ Failed. 5 months ago: ‘Unconditional surrender.’ Failed,” Araghchi wrote, referencing historical policy shifts and sanctions pushes by successive U.S. administrations.

 

To illustrate his point, the foreign minister shared a screenshot of a 2012 post quoting former U.S. Vice President Joe Biden calling past measures “the most crippling sanctions in the history of sanctions.”

 

Araghchi emphasized that Washington’s latest economic warnings represent the same repeated script and are similarly destined to fail.
