Araghchi: Grossi’s Deputy to Arrive in Tehran Tomorrow
WANA (Aug 10) – Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, speaking on the sidelines of today’s (August 10) Cabinet meeting, said that the next round of negotiations has not yet been scheduled and nothing has been finalized. “Indirect talks have also not been confirmed so far, and I do not confirm any country in this regard,” he stated.
Regarding the visit of the Deputy Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Araghchi noted: “Our talks with the Agency on the new cooperation framework will be held tomorrow. As I have mentioned earlier, Mr. Grossi’s deputy will arrive in Tehran tomorrow. There is no open inspection program at this time. We have not yet reached an agreement on the new framework, and until such an agreement is reached, cooperation will not begin. This new framework will certainly be based on the law passed by the esteemed Islamic Consultative Assembly.”
Speaking about the next round of talks with Europe, the Foreign Minister said: “Our contacts with the other side continue, and discussions are still ongoing. Our position remains clear: from our perspective, the ‘snapback’ mechanism has no validity, and Europe cannot take such an action. Given the positions they have adopted, the Europeans are no longer considered participants in the JCPOA from our point of view. Of course, there are technical and legal discussions on this matter, which my colleagues are pursuing in their contacts with them.”
On the next round of talks with the United States, Araghchi reiterated: “The next round has not been scheduled, and nothing has been finalized yet. Indirect talks have not been confirmed, and I will not confirm any country in this regard.”
