Araghchi Heads to Muscat for Nuclear Talks
WANA (Feb 05) – Ahead of a new round of nuclear talks, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran has departed for Muscat at the head of a diplomatic delegation—a visit that, according to the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, aims to pursue a confident diplomatic engagement and achieve a fair, dignified agreement that safeguards the interests of the Iranian nation.
In a post on the social media platform X, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei announced that Seyed Abbas Araghchi has traveled to Oman to hold nuclear negotiations with the United States.
He noted that the talks are being conducted from a position of strength, grounded in realism, and with the objective of reaching a mutually acceptable understanding on the nuclear issue.
Baghaei referred to past experiences, including previous breaches of commitments, recent security developments, and foreign interventions, stressing that these precedents remain firmly in view and that defending the rights of the Iranian people is a non-negotiable principle.
At the same time, he underlined that Iran considers it a responsibility not to miss any diplomatic opportunity to advance national interests and preserve peace and stability in the region.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also expressed appreciation for the responsible and constructive role played by neighboring and regional countries in facilitating this process, and voiced hope that the American side will participate with a sense of responsibility, realism, and seriousness—an approach that could pave the way toward a sustainable understanding and a reduction of regional tensions.
