WANA (Apr 30) – Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s foreign minister, and Nabih Berri, Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, held a phone conversation to discuss the latest developments in Lebanon and the wider region, the Islamabad negotiations process, and other issues of mutual interest.

The two sides strongly condemned what they described as Israeli aggression against countries in the region, including Lebanon, and stressed the need for international action to end attacks in southern Lebanon. They said the strikes had killed and wounded thousands, destroyed residential areas and infrastructure, and displaced local residents.

Araghchi also briefed Berri on the latest status of the diplomatic process mediated by Pakistan. He praised the resilience of the Lebanese people in the face of Israeli attacks and reaffirmed Iran’s firm support for Lebanon.

He further stated that halting Israeli attacks on Lebanon had been part of the ceasefire understanding between Iran and the United States, adding that the issue would remain a priority for Tehran in any future process.

Berri, for his part, pointed to repeated ceasefire violations in Lebanon by Israel and praised the Lebanese people’s resistance to military aggression. He called for greater international pressure and concrete measures to hold Israel accountable.

He also thanked Iran for its efforts in supporting Lebanon’s legitimate positions.
