WANA (Mar 23) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held a series of separate telephone conversations on Monday with his counterparts from Oman, Pakistan, and South Korea, focusing on the latest regional developments following recent military tensions.

Call with Oman

In his conversation with Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, Araghchi discussed ongoing regional developments in the aftermath of U.S.-Israeli military aggression.

Both sides reviewed the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and agreed to continue consultations between their countries.

Call with Pakistan

Araghchi also spoke with Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

The two officials reviewed the outcomes of a separate phone call earlier in the day between Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

They discussed the latest regional situation and the consequences of continued U.S. and Israeli military actions against Iran, emphasizing the importance of preserving long-term regional stability and security.

Call with South Korea

In a separate call, Cho Hyun spoke with Araghchi about bilateral relations between Tehran and Seoul, as well as regional developments.

Cho expressed condolences over the deaths of Iranian civilians, including those killed in Minab, and voiced concern about the broader implications of continued instability, particularly regarding the global economic impact and the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.

He stressed the need for efforts to reduce tensions in the region.

Araghchi, for his part, stated that the current instability and insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz are a direct result of what he described as unlawful U.S. and Israeli attacks during ongoing nuclear negotiations. He reiterated that Iran would firmly defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He further noted that passage through the Strait of Hormuz is restricted for vessels belonging to or supporting the “aggressor parties,” while ships from other countries may transit the waterway in coordination with Iran.

The two sides also discussed several consular issues during the call.
