Araghchi Holds Talks with Regional Counterparts in Jeddah
WANA (Aug 25) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, who traveled to Jeddah to attend the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers, held a series of bilateral meetings with several counterparts, including those from Iraq, Pakistan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Algeria, Bangladesh, and Malaysia.
On the sidelines of the summit, Araghchi met with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein. At the start of their meeting, Araghchi expressed appreciation to the Iraqi government and people for their exemplary hosting of pilgrims during Arbaeen, describing the event as a symbol of unity and the strength of Shia communities worldwide.

During their discussions, the foreign ministers strongly condemned the Israeli regime’s crimes against the people of Gaza, particularly depriving them of essential needs such as food, water, and medicine.
They emphasized the urgent need for practical measures by Islamic and Arab countries to end the blockade, provide humanitarian aid to defenseless civilians, stop acts of genocide, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
The two sides also reviewed bilateral relations, underscoring the importance of expanding cooperation across political and economic fields, and committed to fully implementing existing agreements, including a security memorandum. They also highlighted the completion of the Shalamcheh-Basra railway project as a key area of mutual development.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi continued his diplomatic engagements on the sidelines of the extraordinary Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers’ meeting, convened at the initiative of Iran and several other countries to address the situation in Palestine and the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. During the summit, Araghchi met with Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan for bilateral talks.
The two ministers reviewed the latest regional and international developments, focusing on the alarming situation in Gaza and ongoing Israeli crimes against the Palestinian people. They stressed the urgent need for greater coordination among Islamic countries to immediately halt the aggression, facilitate humanitarian aid, and counter the occupier’s dangerous expansionist projects.
The meeting also assessed recent bilateral relations between Tehran and Riyadh. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the positive trajectory of recent interactions and underscored the importance of continuing consultations and strengthening cooperation in political, economic, security, and regional affairs.
Araghchi and bin Farhan also highlighted the strategic role of Iran-Saudi cooperation in promoting regional stability and shaping an order based on dialogue, mutual respect, and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi met with Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Muhammad Ishaq Dar, on the sidelines of the extraordinary meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) foreign ministers in Jeddah.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed the latest regional and international developments, with particular focus on the dire situation in Gaza and the ongoing crimes of the Israeli regime against the defenseless Palestinian people.
Both ministers stressed the urgent need for coordinated collective action by Islamic countries to halt the aggression, lift the blockade, accelerate the delivery of humanitarian aid, and counter Israel’s expansionist schemes.
Araghchi also briefed his Pakistani counterpart on the latest developments regarding Iran’s nuclear file, reaffirming the Islamic Republic’s transparent, peaceful, and responsible approach.
For his part, Ishaq Dar praised Iran’s principled stance on the nuclear issue and underlined the pivotal role of diplomacy in achieving a peaceful resolution.
The two sides further highlighted the deep historical, religious, and cultural bonds between Tehran and Islamabad, emphasizing the expansion of bilateral cooperation in areas including trade, border development, economy, and regional security.

Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi also met with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, who currently chairs the OIC.
During the meeting, Araghchi expressed appreciation for Turkey’s support of the Palestinian people and its active role in leading the OIC. He called for stronger collective action within the Islamic world to confront Israel’s expansionist policies and defend the Palestinian cause.
The two sides also reviewed the latest developments in bilateral relations, emphasizing the strategic and continuous partnership between Tehran and Ankara. Both ministers underlined the need to expand cooperation in key sectors, including trade, energy, transportation, border security, and regional exchanges.
They further highlighted the importance of convening the Iran–Turkey High Council of Strategic Cooperation at the earliest opportunity as a practical step toward deepening bilateral ties.
Araghchi and Fidan also stressed the continuation of consultations, closer coordination, and enhanced regional and international cooperation based on mutual respect, good neighborliness, and shared interests.
