WANA (May 01) – Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, held separate telephone conversations with the foreign ministers of Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, and the Republic of Azerbaijan to exchange views on regional developments.

During these calls, the Foreign Minister informed his counterparts of the latest positions and initiatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran to end the war imposed by the United States and the Israeli regime and to establish peace in the region.

Araghchi noted that the root cause of the insecurity imposed on the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz is the military aggression of the U.S. and the Israeli regime against Iran.

He emphasized that Iran has entered a new round of negotiations mediated by Pakistan with goodwill and responsibility to reach a definitive end to the war, despite absolute suspicion toward the American side due to repeated broken promises.

Expressing appreciation for the constructive role and good offices of certain regional countries in pursuing diplomacy and shielding the region from the dangerous consequences of further military aggression, Araghchi stated that the Islamic Republic was not the initiator of this imposed war.

He emphasized that while Iran is ready to pursue diplomacy should the U.S. change its excessive approach, threatening rhetoric, and provocative actions, the Iranian Armed Forces are also fully vigilant and prepared for a comprehensive and decisive defense of the nation against any threat or malice.

The foreign ministers of the regional countries outlined their governments’ views in support of diplomacy and peaceful solutions to end the war, declaring their readiness to assist in this process.
