Araghchi: I Have the Full Support of All Pillars of the Islamic Republic
WANA (Sep 18) – Iran’s Foreign Minister said tonight that he enjoys the full support of all branches of the Islamic Republic, including the Supreme National Security Council, adding: “Yesterday, on behalf of Iran, I presented a reasonable and practical proposal to my European counterparts to prevent an unnecessary and avoidable crisis in the coming days.”
According to Fars News Agency’s Foreign Policy Desk, Seyed Abbas Araghchi referred on Thursday evening (September 18) to his phone conversations a day earlier with the foreign ministers of Germany, France, and the United Kingdom, as well as EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas, and noted: “On behalf of the Islamic Republic of Iran, yesterday I presented a reasonable and workable plan to my European counterparts to avoid an unnecessary and preventable crisis in the coming days.”
He added: “Instead of addressing the content of this plan, Iran is now facing a set of excuses and clear evasions — including the absurd claim that the Foreign Ministry does not represent the entire political structure of the country.”

Diplomacy Against the Snapback Mechanism . JCPOA
“It is the European diplomacy that is out of touch”
The Iranian Foreign Minister stated: “I welcome the fact that President Macron acknowledged the plan I presented as reasonable. But he and the international community must understand that I enjoy the full backing of all pillars of the Islamic Republic, including the country’s Supreme National Security Council.”
Araghchi added: “The reality may be that it is in fact the European diplomatic apparatus that stands outside the process.”
He continued: “Therefore, the time has come for the UN Security Council to step in and let diplomacy replace confrontation. The danger is at its highest level.”
On September 6, the three European countries sent a letter to the Security Council triggering the process to activate the snapback mechanism — the reimposition of previously lifted UN sanctions.
Recalling that Iran has already done its part, Araghchi pointed to both the agreement reached with the IAEA and the proposal presented to the three European countries. In a post on X, he wrote:
1. “Signing an agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency, consistent with our domestic and international obligations and despite the illegal bombing of safeguarded nuclear facilities in Iran, has opened a new chapter of cooperation with the Agency.
2. Presenting a creative, fair, and balanced proposal that addresses genuine concerns and is mutually beneficial. Implementing this idea can be done quickly, and by resolving the main lines of disagreement, we can prevent a crisis from emerging.”
The Foreign Minister concluded: “There is a path forward, but Iran cannot be the only actor carrying the burden of responsibility.”

Yesterday, Esmaeil Baghaei confirmed in response to a question from a Fars correspondent that Araghchi had held phone calls with his European counterparts and the EU foreign policy chief.
On September 8, following three rounds of negotiations between Iran and the IAEA in Tehran and Vienna, Araghchi and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi signed an understanding on a new framework of cooperation.
