Araghchi: Iran Backs Qatar, Muslim World Against Threats
WANA (Sep 15) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Monday that the Islamic Republic stands alongside Qatar and all Muslim nations in the face of threats endangering the region.
In a post on X, Araghchi wrote: “I am in Doha with a clear message from the people of Iran: Iran stands with Qatar, and indeed with all our Muslim brothers and sisters, especially in confronting the calamity that threatens the entire region.”
Araghchi is in Doha to attend an emergency meeting of Arab and Islamic countries convened after Israel’s recent airstrike on the Qatari capital.
On Sunday, Araghchi met with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, where he reiterated Iran’s firm stance in strongly condemning Israel’s military aggression against Qatar.
He also stressed the need for effective, collective action by the Islamic world to counter Israeli hostilities against Muslim countries, stop the ongoing genocide in Gaza, and bring Israeli leaders to justice.
Last Tuesday, Israel launched an airstrike in Doha targeting a building in an attempt to assassinate Hamas leaders. The strike killed five people, but the assassination attempt failed. The attack has drawn widespread international condemnation.
The summit of Islamic leaders on Israel’s attack against Qatar is scheduled to take place today.
