Araghchi: Iran Will Respond More Forcefully If Enemies Choose Military Path
WANA (Oct 04) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran is fully prepared to defend itself, warning that if its enemies once again chose a military course, they would face a stronger response than in the past.
Speaking on Sunday, October 4, at a meeting with ambassadors, chargé d’affaires and heads of foreign and international missions based in Tehran, Araghchi said the Islamic Republic is serious and resolute both in defending itself and pursuing diplomacy.
He stressed that if Iran’s enemies once again opted for military confrontation, they would face a stronger response, while Iran remained ready to pursue a just and dignified solution through diplomacy.
Iran’s presence in New York was strong and effective
Araghchi thanked foreign diplomats in Tehran for facilitating the meetings he and President Masoud Pezeshkian held in New York, saying he met with 42 foreign ministers during the UN General Assembly, while the president met with around 10 heads of state.
He described the Iranian delegation’s presence in New York this year as strong and effective, noting that, in addition to numerous meetings, the delegation held many interviews, while Pezeshkian addressed the UN General Assembly and Araghchi delivered speeches at meetings on the sidelines of the assembly.
He also referred to meetings held by the president and himself with political thinkers and elites in New York, highlighting Iran’s proposal for resolving the disputes and ongoing war between Iran and the United States.
Araghchi referred to the proposal as the “seven-day plan,” saying that if it were accepted, the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened within seven days.

Araghchi outlines Iran’s Seven-Day Plan to Reopen the Strait of Hormuz
WANA (Sep 26) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has outlined Iran’s seven-day plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, provided that the United States accepts the conditions of the Islamic Republic. Speaking at a stakeout at the United Nations headquarters in New York on Friday, Araghchi said that the seven-day period begins once […]
Diplomatic path to ending war remains open
Araghchi said Iran’s participation in this year’s UN General Assembly had been active and effective and that the political atmosphere in New York had been influenced by Iran’s proposal and its extensive presence.
He said the meetings held with various countries showed that the Islamic Republic remained serious about diplomacy and finding a peaceful solution.
Araghchi stressed that Iran is as resolute in diplomacy as it is in defending itself, saying that if its enemies once again pursued military confrontation, Iran would respond more forcefully and defend itself more strongly than before.
At the same time, he said Iran remains ready to reach a just and dignified solution to end the war through diplomacy if the other side sought a diplomatic path.
Iran’s isolation was disproved at UN General Assembly
Araghchi said Iran had clearly explained its positions in New York, adding that the level of interest shown by various countries in meeting with Iranian officials, learning about Tehran’s views and hearing its proposal had been significant.
He said the notion held by some in the United States that Iran could be turned into an isolated country had been completely disproved, adding that Iran had played an active role in New York as a powerful country respected by the international community. According to Araghchi, Iran demonstrated that it had solutions both for war and peace.

He also addressed statements by the US side that the Iranian delegation had been expelled from the country, saying that regardless of whether the claim was accurate, the Iranian delegation had traveled to and returned from New York according to its prearranged schedule.
Araghchi described the US position as “strange,” saying Washington had acknowledged that it had acted contrary to its obligations as the host of the United Nations and had demonstrated its displeasure with the presence of the Iranian delegation.
He compared the behavior to an Olympic Games host expelling athletes from another country after its own team had lost, calling such conduct equally “childish and contemptible.”
Araghchi said Iranian diplomats had played an active role at the General Assembly, adding that they had conveyed the voice of the Iranian people to the world and communicated their message of peace and the adoption of logical and peaceful solutions.
He said Iran had also clearly explained its conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, adding that all of those conditions are consistent with commitments that the United States should accept.
New path launched to build trust with Persian Gulf countries
Araghchi said his meetings with neighboring countries, particularly the countries of the Persian Gulf, had been very effective, respectful and friendly.
He said Iran had begun a new path to build trust between neighboring countries and the Islamic Republic, adding that the process was progressing well, particularly in the Persian Gulf region.

Iran Urges UN Security Council to Examine European Role in War
WANA (Sep 27) – Iran’s Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Gholamhossein Darzi, has called on the UN Security Council to examine the role of European countries in supporting US military operations against Iran, following recent remarks by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. In a letter addressed to UN Secretary-General Antonio […]
“Our brothers and sisters in the Persian Gulf are accompanying us on this path,” Araghchi said, adding that a shared will had emerged to establish peace, stability and security in the Persian Gulf with the participation of the countries of the region themselves. He said this process was now being seriously pursued.
European countries should reconsider their approach toward Iran
Araghchi said he had also held numerous meetings with European countries, noting that Iran’s dialogue with European countries had been very frank. He expressed hope that European countries would reconsider their approach toward the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Araghchi described NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte’s acknowledgment of European countries’ participation in the US war against Iran as a serious admission.
He said Rutte had explicitly stated that more than 5,000 US fighter aircraft had taken off from bases in Europe to attack Iran, adding that Iran was still waiting for European countries to answer why they had played an effective role in the war against Iran.
Araghchi reiterated that European countries should reconsider their approach toward Iran.
New US sanctions will have no benefit, Araghchi says
Araghchi said Iran hoped the United States would choose the path of wisdom and rationality, but if Washington once again pursued military solutions, Tehran is more prepared than before and would take whatever measures are necessary to defend itself.
He said Iran would also remain ready for diplomacy if the United States chose that path, adding that Washington had previously failed both in war and diplomacy. Araghchi said the experience of sanctions has shown that further sanctions would not benefit the United States.
He stressed that there is no military solution or solution based on additional sanctions, saying that only a solution based on negotiations, justice, fairness and diplomatic dignity could provide an answer and ultimately end what he described as an illegal and unjust war and aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.
