WANA (Mar 15) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the country’s domestic situation remains stable and dismissed rumors surrounding Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei, saying he is in full health and remains firmly in control of the situation.

Speaking on Sunday in an interview with the London-based Arabic newspaper Al-Araby Al-Jadeed, Araghchi said the Supreme Leader is in “complete good health” and is “fully managing the situation.”

The Iranian foreign minister also addressed ongoing regional developments, saying Tehran is ready to establish a joint committee with regional countries to investigate the recent attacks and clarify which targets were struck.

He stressed that Iran’s military operations are aimed exclusively at U.S. bases and American interests in the region, adding that, so far, no civilian or residential areas in neighboring countries have been targeted by Iran.

Araghchi also referred to the growing role of drones in regional conflicts, claiming that the United States has developed a drone similar to Iran’s Shahed series, known as “Lucas,” which he said closely resembles the Iranian model in both design and operational function.

According to Araghchi, the drone has already been used in attacks on targets in several Arab countries.

He further suggested that some attacks on civilian targets in Arab states may have been carried out by Israel, arguing that such actions could be intended to undermine relations between Iran and the Arab world.

In another part of the interview, Araghchi warned that if Iran’s energy infrastructure comes under attack, Tehran will retaliate by targeting facilities belonging to American companies across the region.

Commenting on the prospects for ending the conflict, he said: “The war can only end if there are guarantees that it will not be repeated, along with compensation.”

He added that no concrete initiative has yet been put forward to end the war, but said Iran would welcome any regional proposal that leads to what it considers a just conclusion to the conflict.

Addressing speculation about Khark Island—Iran’s main oil export terminal in the Persian Gulf—Araghchi said that occupying the island would be “an even greater mistake than attacking it.”

He also commented on the Strait of Hormuz, saying the strategic waterway remains open to all countries, “except for American vessels and their allies.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Araghchi described Iran’s domestic situation as “stable,” saying there are no divisions within the government or the armed forces.

He added that diplomatic contacts with Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, and other neighboring states are continuing.
