WANA (Mar 04) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi held a telephone conversation Tuesday night with Qassem al-Araji, Iraq’s National Security Adviser, to discuss recent regional developments and their security implications.

 

According to a statement released Wednesday by Iran’s Foreign Ministry, al-Araji extended his condolences over the killing of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution, several senior military commanders, and Iranian civilians in  military aggression by the United States and Israel against Iran.

 

Araghchi thanked the Iraqi official for his message of sympathy and briefed him on what he characterized as crimes committed by the United States and Israel against the Iranian people. He described the recent developments as a serious threat to regional stability and security.

 

The two sides also exchanged views on strengthening coordination to safeguard security along their shared borders. Both Tehran and Baghdad underscored the importance of continued bilateral cooperation to prevent instability and maintain border security amid rising regional tensions.
