Araghchi Meets with Sultan of Oman
WANA (Apr 26) – Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who has traveled to Muscat for consultations with senior officials of the Sultanate of Oman, met and held talks with Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said this morning.
The Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for Oman’s responsible approach in assisting diplomatic processes, as well as the country’s prudent stance regarding the war imposed by the United States and Israel against Iran. He emphasized Iran’s determination to safeguard friendly relations with Oman and other countries in the southern Persian Gulf.
Iran’s Foreign Minister stated: “The experience of the 40-day imposed war against Iran showed that the U.S. military presence in regional countries only causes insecurity and division. It is expected that all countries adopt a constructive and responsible approach to shape endogenous collective security mechanisms free from American intervention.”
The Sultan of Oman expressed his condolences over the loss of Ayatollah Seyed Ali Hosseini Khamenei, the late leader of the Islamic Revolution, along with several high-ranking political and defense officials and Iranian citizens, during the military aggression by the United States and the Israeli regime against Iran.
Extending his warm greetings to the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Seyed Mojtaba Khamenei, and President Pezeshkian, he emphasized Oman’s commitment to peace and stability in the region, including through the advancement of diplomacy.
Expressing hope for the swift and definitive end of the war and the return of stability and security to the region, the Sultan of Oman declared his country’s readiness to provide any necessary assistance in this regard.
During the meeting, which was also attended by Sayyid Badr Albusaidi, the Foreign Minister of Oman, discussions were held regarding issues related to the safety and security of transit in the Strait of Hormuz, the security of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, economic cooperation between regional countries, and developments related to the negotiations to end the war mediated by Pakistan.
Araghchi arrived in Muscat last night for talks with Omani officials after visiting Islamabad and consulting with senior Pakistani officials. He is scheduled to return to Islamabad again after Muscat. The next destination of Araghchi’s trip will be Russia.
