Araghchi Reacts to Western Silence on Israel’s Expanding Nuclear Arsenal
WANA (Sep 05) – Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, criticized the West for its silence regarding the nuclear arsenal of the Israeli regime, saying that while three European countries and the U.S. may deny it, their silence undermines any credibility they might have in even raising the issue of non-proliferation.
On Friday, September 5, 2025, Araghchi responded to the West’s lack of reaction to Israel’s nuclear development, stating: “Their silence erodes any credibility they have for even addressing non-proliferation.”
In this context, he shared an Associated Press report on construction activities at Israel’s Dimona nuclear site.

The AP released new satellite images showing extensive construction at the Dimona facility. According to experts cited by the news agency, the building could be a new heavy-water reactor replacing the old one or a warhead assembly center.
Araghchi emphasized that Iran has consistently warned that Western hysteria over nuclear proliferation in the region is entirely artificial.
He added: “From their perspective, the issue is not the existence or expansion of nuclear weapons stockpiles. The real question is who is allowed to achieve scientific progress, even for peaceful nuclear programs.”
Araghchi continued: “Therefore, it is not surprising that there is deafening silence in the West regarding the obvious expansion of the only nuclear weapons arsenal in our region — the nuclear weapons held by their genocidal ally.”
He concluded: “Three European countries and the U.S. may deny it, but their silence destroys any credibility they might have for even raising the issue of non-proliferation.”
