WANA (Mar 31) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi condemned reported Israeli strikes on pharmaceutical facilities, warning of retaliation.

In a post on X, he wrote: “The war criminals in Israel are now openly and unashamedly bombing pharmaceutical companies. Their intentions are clear.

What they’ve gotten wrong is that they’re not dealing with defenseless Palestinian civilians. Our Powerful Armed Forces will severely punish aggressors.”

According to the deputy health minister and head of Iran’s Food and Drug Organization, at 6:30 a.m. local time, multiple missiles struck the “Tofigh Darou” industrial complex, completely destroying its production, research, and development units.

He added that since the start of the war, 24 facilities in the pharmaceutical, medical equipment, and distribution sectors have sustained serious damage, though production and supply of essential items continue without interruption.

According to the official, the targeted complex was one of the country’s key producers of raw materials for hospital medicines and drugs used in operating rooms, with the strike causing total destruction of its production and R&D sections.

Despite the damage, he emphasized that production in pharmaceuticals, medical equipment, and even essential goods such as infant formula continues.

He concluded that under international humanitarian law and conventions protecting critical health infrastructure, attacks on medical, pharmaceutical, and essential supply centers are explicitly prohibited and legally prosecutable.
