WANA (May 14) – Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran will not back down in the face of military threats, stressing that recent conflicts have shown there is no military solution to disputes involving Iran.

Speaking on the sidelines of the BRICS meeting on Thursday, May 14, Araghchi responded to recent threats made by U.S. and Israeli officials while Donald Trump was visiting China.

“We are used to these threats,” he said. “They have repeated them in different forms for a long time, but they themselves know that they have achieved nothing from these threats — or even from the war they launched — and they will achieve nothing in the future either.”

“There Is No Military Solution”

The Iranian foreign minister said he had once again emphasized during his speech at the BRICS meeting that “there is no military solution to issues related to Iran.”

According to Araghchi, Iran has stood firmly against pressure and threats, and the outcome of the recent conflict demonstrated that reality. Referring to the recent war, he said: “They fought us for 40 days, and they saw the result.”

He added that Iran is prepared to respond positively to countries that approach Tehran with respect.

“Those who speak to Iran with the language of respect will receive the same response,” he said.

Araghchi also warned that continued threats would not produce different results and said any future military confrontation would end similarly to previous ones.

Iran’s View of Its Regional Position After the War

The Iranian foreign minister also referred to his meetings with officials from various countries on the sidelines of the BRICS summit, saying many discussions focused on the future of the region and developments following the recent war.

He said many countries believe Iran managed to prevent its adversaries from achieving their objectives during the conflict, adding that this has influenced perceptions of Iran’s regional standing.

According to Araghchi, several delegations at the BRICS meeting highlighted that recent developments have created new realities in the region and that future discussions about regional peace and stability must take those realities into account.

He described the recent war as “a turning point” that has strengthened Iran’s position in the region.

Response to the UAE’s Remarks at BRICS

Araghchi also addressed comments made by the United Arab Emirates delegation during the BRICS meeting, saying a significant part of the Emirati remarks focused on Iran’s attacks against American targets on UAE territory.

In response, the Iranian foreign minister said Tehran believes the UAE had provided facilities and bases to the United States during the recent conflict.

“Iran targeted only American objectives on UAE soil,” he said.

Araghchi added that Iran had initially preferred not to raise these issues during the BRICS meeting, but responded after the UAE delegation brought them up.

Call for Regional Cooperation

Concluding his remarks, Araghchi emphasized the importance of cooperation among regional countries, saying Iran and the UAE, as neighboring states, will continue to live alongside one another.

He said regional security should be achieved through cooperation among countries in the region rather than reliance on outside powers.
