Araghchi’s Message on Jewish New Year: Criticism of Israel’s Policies, Praise for Jewish Voices of Dissent
WANA (Sep 22) – Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, issued a message on the occasion of the Jewish New Year, in which he extended greetings to Iranian Jews and the true followers of the teachings of Moses, while strongly criticizing the policies of the Israeli government.
In his message, Araghchi pointed to the conduct of Israel’s Prime Minister, stating:
“Despite his claims of victory, Netanyahu has only brought unprecedented destruction and isolation upon Israel.”
He went on to say: “The criminal regime of Israel has never been so despised in our region and across the world. It is appalling that he commits genocide against Palestinians in the name of Judaism and Jews, thereby tarnishing the image of all Jews.”
Welcoming the growing opposition among Jewish communities, the Iranian Foreign Minister added: “It is heartening that an increasing number of Jews are openly protesting this abuse of their faith, calling for an end to the exploitation of Judaism by indicted war criminals.”
Araghchi called for international support for these voices, stressing: “The world must support their efforts to prevent Netanyahu from equating a divine religion with a sinister and deadly ideology based on racism and expulsion.”
He concluded his message with warm greetings: “On the occasion of the Jewish New Year, I extend my sincerest congratulations to my Jewish compatriots in Iran and indeed to all true followers of the teachings of Moses (PBUH). I cherish their open arms toward peace. L’Shanah Tovah (Happy New Year).”
