Araghchi’s Reaction to the Ongoing Situation in Sudan
WANA (Nov 01) – Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, condemned the killing of civilians in the Sudanese city of El Fasher, stating that some countries divide terrorists into “good” and “bad” categories and support those who, in their words, “do the dirty work” to advance their interests. He stressed that terrorism and violence against innocent people must always be condemned, in any form and anywhere in the world.
Addressing the current situation in Sudan, Araghchi reiterated: “Terrorism and violence against innocent people, in any form and anywhere in the world, must always be condemned.”
Speaking after a phone conversation last night with Sudan’s Foreign Minister, Mohi El-Din Salem, Araghchi said: “In my call with my Sudanese counterpart, I expressed the deep sorrow and concern of the Islamic Republic of Iran over the tragic massacre of innocent civilians in El Fasher and emphasized Iran’s solidarity with the government and people of Sudan.”
He added: “Some divide terrorists into ‘good’ and ‘bad’ and support those who, as they say, ‘do the dirty work’ for their own interests.”
The Iranian foreign minister noted that such regrettable double standards, pursued by Western governments for years, should have no place in 2025.
In a post on the X platform, Araghchi reiterated: “Terrorism and violence against innocent people, in any form and anywhere in the world, must always be condemned.”
On Friday night, October 31, Araghchi held a phone conversation with Sudan’s Foreign Minister, Mohi El-Din Salem, during which he condemned the recent attacks and killing of civilians in El Fasher and reaffirmed Iran’s support for Sudan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The Sudanese foreign minister, while providing an update on the latest developments in his country, expressed appreciation for Iran’s support for Sudan’s legitimate government and solidarity with the Sudanese people.
