Araghchi’s Response to Netanyahu’s “Greater Israel” Claim
WANA (Aug 14) – The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, reacting to remarks by the Israeli regime’s prime minister about the idea of a “Greater Israel,” stressed that Western media usually accuse anyone who refers to this concept of being “antisemitic.”
In a post on X early Thursday morning, Seyed Abbas Araghchi posed the question: “If Netanyahu himself admits it, is that still antisemitism?” He was referring to parts of the Israeli prime minister’s recent statements.
Araghchi noted that Benjamin Netanyahu, in an interview with an Israeli television network, claimed he was on a “historic and spiritual mission” and expressed interest in the “Greater Israel” vision — a view which, according to Netanyahu, includes lands belonging to a future Palestinian state and even parts of Jordan and Egypt.
The foreign minister added: “Western media usually accuse anyone who points to the Zionists’ idea of a ‘Greater Israel’ of antisemitism. Now, if Netanyahu himself says such a thing, does that label still apply?”

The Spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned statements made by the fugitive Israeli Prime Minister regarding the “Greater Israel” plan—describing it as an explicit declaration of the regime’s intent to further and continuously seize the lands of independent states, including Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, and Syria—calling it a blatant violation of the UN Charter and international law.
In the early hours of Thursday, August 14, 2025, Esmaeil Baghaei, referring to the regime’s ongoing lawlessness and heinous crimes—especially the continued occupation and genocide in the historic land of Palestine—stated: The admission by the Zionist regime’s Prime Minister that he sees himself as bearing a “historic and spiritual mission” to realize the sinister “Nile-to-Euphrates” idea is clear evidence of a fascistic intent among the regime’s policymakers to commit aggression against the territorial integrity and national sovereignty of regional countries and to dominate the Islamic world. Such intent, he stressed, must be firmly condemned by the UN Secretary-General, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and all states as a grave violation of the principles and purposes of the UN Charter and peremptory norms of international law.
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson also referred to the catastrophic situation in Gaza as a result of the mass killing of innocent Palestinians and the imposition of starvation and thirst on its people. He called for urgent and decisive action by Islamic and Arab countries to provide humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza, support the right to resist occupation and apartheid, stop the genocide, and prosecute and punish the Zionist criminals.
