WANA (May 27) – The Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran stated that if the UK’s position is “zero enrichment” in Iran, there will be no grounds left for dialogue between the two sides on the nuclear issue.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, reacted on the social media platform X to remarks made by the British Ambassador to the U.S. regarding Iran’s peaceful nuclear activities. He wrote:

“Iran has continued to engage in good faith with the UK and the remaining European parties to the JCPOA, even as the United States still shows no willingness to involve them in the ongoing negotiation process.”

He added: “If the UK’s position is ‘zero enrichment’ in Iran — which is a clear violation of the Non-Proliferation Treaty as well as the UK’s commitments as a remaining member of the JCPOA — then there is no longer any subject for discussion between us on the nuclear file.”

Previously, Peter Mandelson, the British Ambassador to the U.S., expressed support for American officials’ stance on halting Iran’s uranium enrichment program, stating: “Iran must cease its uranium enrichment activities.”
