Iran Condemns Terrorist Attack on Zahedan Courthouse

Iran’s Justice Ministry has condemned a terrorist attack by the extremist group Jaish al-Zolm on the Zahedan courthouse, calling it a “blind and inhumane act.”

 

The ministry linked the assault to foreign-backed efforts to destabilize the country and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice. It also expressed condolences for the victims and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

 

3 Security Personnel Among the Victims

The Chief Justice of Sistan and Baluchestan Province announced that an approximately 60-year-old Baloch woman was among those killed in the recent terrorist attack in Zahedan. Her identity has not yet been confirmed.

 

Hojjatoleslam Movahedi Rad stated that the attackers were armed with explosive vests and military grenades. Three soldiers and security personnel assigned to the judiciary’s protection unit were also martyred in the attack.

 

The Chief Justice further reported that 22 people, most of them civilians, were injured in the incident. Several of the wounded received outpatient treatment, and three individuals sought medical attention due to stress and anxiety caused by the attack—they were also treated on an outpatient basis.

Details of the Incident By General Alireza Daliri

WANA (Jul 26) – As Brigadier General Alireza Daliri, Deputy Commander of Law Enforcement in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, explained, the terrorist attack occurred at approximately 8:30 a.m. local time, and a terrorist team linked to the “Zionist regime” attempted to enter the Sistan and Baluchestan courthouse disguised as civilians seeking legal services.

 

General Alireza Daliri stated: “During the confrontation, the assailant threw a grenade into the courthouse building, resulting in the martyrdom of several civilians, including a one-year-old infant and a mother. Thanks to the vigilance of security personnel on the scene, a confrontation ensued during which one of the terrorists was killed on the spot.”

 

“The pursuit of the remaining attackers led to the killing of the other two members of the terrorist cell, and the entire team was neutralized during the operation, he added.”

WANA (Jul 26) – According to an informed source, the courthouse building has now been evacuated, and security has been restored at the scene of the incident and in the surrounding streets.

 

The source added that several civilians—mostly teenagers—were injured during the attack, which also involved grenade explosions.

 

Five Killed in Terrorist Attack on Zahedan Courthouse

WANA (Jul 26) – According to initial reports, at 11:00 a.m. local time, the terrorist attack has so far resulted in the deaths of five people and injuries to thirteen others. A Baloch mother and her infant were among the casualties.

 

Authorities have stated that the casualty figures are preliminary, and investigations into the full extent of the incident are ongoing.

WANA (Jul 26) – The terrorist group Jaish al-Zulm (Jaish al-Adl) has claimed responsibility for the operation in a statement published shortly after the incident and has referred to this attack as the “arm of justice.”

 

According to the informed sources, the terrorist attack in Zahedan initially targeted the provincial courthouse and later indiscriminately spread to civilians in the surrounding area.

 

WANA (Jul 26) – Iran’s Judiciary has reported that unidentified armed assailants carried out a terrorist attack on the General Justice Department of Sistan and Baluchestan Province in the city of Zahedan early Saturday morning.

 

According to an official statement, “This morning, unidentified armed individuals attacked the main provincial courthouse. Based on follow-ups, the confrontation inside the building has ended.”

 

Several individuals were injured during this terrorist attack, and emergency medical teams from Zahedan were dispatched to the site.

 

New details emerging from the scene suggest that a suicide attacker may have been involved in the assault, although this has not been officially confirmed. Due to restrictions on media access to the interior of the building, the exact cause of the explosion sound reported during the attack remains unclear.
