Assassination of Al-Qassam Commander Proves Enemy’s Treachery
WANA (May 17) – Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has issued a message following the assassination of a senior commander of the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, stating that the killing of Izz ad-Din al-Haddad serves as definitive proof of the “enemy’s treachery” during a ceasefire period. He emphasized that the ultimate fate of Palestine will be decided by its own people.
In his official statement, Ghalibaf stressed that while the history of the Israeli occupation is defined by systemic crimes, this latest assassination during an active truce underscores the regime’s ongoing violation of international agreements.
The full text of the statement reads as follows:
” ‘Among the believers are men who have been true to their covenant with Allah; of them some have completed their vow, and some still wait, but they have never changed in the least.’ (Holy Quran)
Once again, the criminal hands of the ruthless Zionist regime have been stained with the blood of a great and tireless mujahid. At a time when a superficial ceasefire was seemingly in place in heroic Gaza—backed by the false promises of notorious criminals—”Izz ad-Din al-Haddad,” a commander of the brave Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, was martyred by the Zionist criminal clique alongside his wife and daughter.
This mujahid brother spent his life on the battlefield fighting the occupiers of his homeland or enduring the prisons of the Zionist oppressors, having already sacrificed two of his sons along this path.
Although the decades of occupation over the Muslims’ first Qibla (Jerusalem) are filled with various crimes and betrayals, his martyrdom during a ceasefire once again seals the proof of their treachery and breach of covenants.
Undoubtedly, the divine promise is immutable. Through the continuation of the path of resistance, the fate of the Palestinian nation and its land will be determined by the proud Palestinian people themselves.”
