Attack on Pasteur Institute of Iran “Beyond a War Crime”
WANA (Apr 02) – The spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the attack on the Pasteur Institute of Iran, describing it as “beyond a war crime” and an assault on the fundamental principles of humanity and civilization.
Referring to the dimensions of the incident, the spokesperson stated that the attack by U.S.-Israeli forces on the Pasteur Institute of Iran—one of the oldest and most renowned research and public health centers in Iran and the Middle East—was a heartbreaking, brutal, and deeply inhumane act. The institute was established in 1920 based on an agreement between the Pasteur Institute of Paris and the Iranian government.
The spokesperson emphasized that this act is not merely another crime amid an unlawful war, but a direct attack on the core values of humanity and global civilization.
In the same context, informed sources noted that the attack targeted a century-old pillar of global health and a member of the international Pasteur network, posing a serious threat to international health security.
According to the report, the Pasteur Institute of Iran is a research, production, service, and educational institution dedicated to promoting public health, and attacking it constitutes a clear violation of the Geneva Conventions and the principles of international humanitarian law.
