Attacks on Infrastructure and Assassinations of Iranian Leaders Show Aggressors Cannot Be Trusted
WANA (Mar 28) – Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian and Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation to discuss regional developments and the consequences of recent military actions against Iran.
During the call, President Pezeshkian thanked the Pakistani government and people for their support and solidarity with Iran following military attacks by the United States and Israel.
He also expressed appreciation for diplomatic efforts by friendly and neighboring countries, including Pakistan, aimed at ending the conflict.
Pezeshkian stated that attacks on Iran’s infrastructure and the assassination of Iranian leaders and figures show that the attackers cannot be trusted.
He also expressed regret over the use of the territory of some Muslim countries in operations against Iran, stressing that Iran’s defensive response toward the origins of these attacks is “natural,” while emphasizing that Iran considers Muslim nations as brothers and seeks to avoid harm to any Muslim.
The Iranian president warned of Israel’s intention to expand the conflict across the region and urged Muslim countries to ensure their territories are not used for attacks against other Muslim nations.
He highlighted shared religious and humanitarian ties among Muslim countries and pointed to their capacity to confront common threats.
Pezeshkian also noted that Iran had been targeted militarily twice during ongoing diplomatic and nuclear negotiations.
He added that despite U.S. assurances that economic and energy infrastructure would not be attacked, such sites have been struck, saying these contradictions have further deepened Iran’s distrust toward the United States.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance condemning military actions against Iran, particularly recent Israeli strikes on economic infrastructure in Ahvaz and Isfahan.
He emphasized the full solidarity of the Pakistani government and people with Iran.
Sharif expressed appreciation for measures taken by Iranian authorities to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels, including Pakistani ships, through the Strait of Hormuz, and voiced hope that such arrangements would continue.
He also pointed to the existing lack of trust between Iran and the United States, stressing that any dialogue must take place in an atmosphere of mutual respect and confidence, which requires an end to military actions and attacks on Iranian officials and civilians.
The Pakistani prime minister further expressed hope to visit Tehran in the near future once tensions subside.
