Azadi Tower Illuminated for Hafez
WANA (Oct 12) – On the evening of October 11, ahead of Hafez Memorial Day (October 12), Tehran’s iconic Azadi Tower was illuminated with poetry, light, and music in tribute to Hafez — one of Iran’s most celebrated poets and a towering figure in Persian literature.
Known for his 14th-century collection of lyrical poems exploring themes of love, spirituality, and the mysteries of existence, Hafez is often regarded as the voice of Persian mysticism. His verses continue to inspire Iranians and poetry lovers around the world centuries after his death.
The event, “Hafez Projection,” was organized by the Roudaki Foundation in collaboration with the Fars Department of Culture and Islamic Guidance. Through video mapping, verses and visuals inspired by Hafez’s mausoleum in Shiraz and the Golestan literary garden were projected onto the façade of Azadi Tower.

In this dazzling multimedia performance, the tower transformed into a living tableau of Persian art—where poetry met music and architecture.
The fusion of classical Persian melodies, radiant imagery, and Hafez’s immortal words created an immersive experience that carried the audience into the mystical world of Persian verse.
The “Hafez Tower Projection” was part of the Roudaki Foundation’s ongoing initiatives to celebrate Iran’s cultural heritage and honor its artistic luminaries, connecting traditional poetry with modern visual expression.
