Azizi: Halting War on All Fronts, Especially Lebanon, Tops Agreement Text with US
WANA (Jun 03) – The Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee stated on Wednesday that a cessation of hostilities across all regional fronts—particularly in Lebanon—remains the primary priority in ongoing text negotiations with the United States.
The remarks were made during a meeting in Tehran between members of the parliamentary committee and Seyed Abdullah Safieddine, Hezbollah’s representative in Iran.
Strategic Alignment and Regional Roles
During the session, Committee Chairman Ebrahim Azizi emphasized the deep ideological and strategic ties between Iran and Hezbollah, describing the Lebanese group as an integral extension of the Islamic Republic’s broader revolutionary framework.
Azizi pushed back against Western characterizations of regional armed factions, asserting that Iran does not view movements in Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, or Palestine as regional proxies. Instead, he framed them as independent actors confronting external aggression and representing authentic regional interests.
He noted that during the recent “Ramadan War,” the broader Resistance Front demonstrated a level of military and strategic coordination that surpassed adversarial expectations.
Diplomatic Priorities and Deterrence
The chairman reiterated Iran’s commitment to Lebanon’s territorial integrity and self-determination, reaffirming that any direct military actions against Lebanon would trigger decisive political and military responses from Tehran. He noted that the Iranian parliament and state leadership monitor developments in Lebanon on a daily basis.
Addressing the framework of ongoing diplomatic exchanges involving Washington, Azizi outlined Tehran’s core baseline: “We will not allow the United States or Israel to fracture the unity between Iran and the resistance. Halting the war on all fronts, especially in Lebanon, is at the very top of the text of our agreement with the United States. We remain confident in the resistance’s position and believe that shared strategic coordination will realize the ultimate objective of neutralizing the Israeli threat.”
