Azizi: IAEA’s Biased Reports Paved Way for Israeli Aggression
WANA (Jun 28) – The head of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Ebrahim Azizi, said that the IAEA’s “false and politically motivated” reports enabled recent Israeli attacks on Iran.
Speaking on the sidelines of the funeral ceremony of commanders and nuclear scientists who were killed in Israeli attacks on Iran, Ebrahim Azizi, stated, “What laid the foundation for Israel’s attack on Iran was the false, biased, and politically motivated report by the IAEA, which followed a report issued by Director General Rafael Grossi.”
He reiterated Iran’s longstanding position that its nuclear activities are peaceful and within the framework of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
“We have repeatedly welcomed the IAEA Director General’s visits, and during his latest trip, some of Iran’s nuclear facilities were even visited,” he added.
The lawmaker expressed disappointment over the agency’s conduct: “Unfortunately, the IAEA has strayed from its technical and professional path and has become a political tool in the hands of major powers.”
He warned that as long as the agency continues what he called a “false course” and fails to issue fact-based and logical reports, there will be no justification for the Islamic Republic to cooperate.
He also cited a parliamentary decision: “Until the security of nuclear facilities is ensured and Iran’s right to uranium enrichment is officially recognized, the Iranian government will cease cooperation with the IAEA.”
