Azizi: Our Hands Are on the Trigger, Not a Mere Threat
WANA (Jun 02) – The Chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, Ebrahim Azizi, warned Israel and the United States that Tehran’s military is on high alert, stating that “dark days await” allied forces in the region if any strategic errors are made.
Azizi’s remarks followed reports that the Israeli military abruptly postponed a major planned assault on southern Beirut and its Dahiyeh suburb after receiving severe warnings from Iran.
“We have warned the United States and the Zionist regime that in the event of any action, dark days await this regime and American forces in the region,” Azizi stated. “The U.S. and Israel know very well that our warning is not a mere threat; rather, our hands are on the trigger.”
Strategic Retaliation and Israel’s Sudden Retreat
The escalation began after Israel issued evacuation orders, threatening imminent and heavy bombardments in southern Beirut. In response, Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters issued a counter-warning, declaring that due to repeated ceasefire violations by Israel, any strike on Beirut would trigger a severe response.
The headquarters warned residents of northern regions and military settlements within the occupied territories to evacuate immediately for their own safety.
Following this development, the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation (KAN) confirmed that Israel had planned a massive strike on Dahiyeh but postponed it at the last minute due to U.S. intervention, which observers link to fears of an uncontrollable regional escalation.
Azizi concluded by pointing out that Israel’s retreat from its initial threats demonstrates that America and its allies understand the credibility of Iran’s deterrent capabilities.
