WANA (Aug 17) – Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei has strongly criticized Canada following reports of Ottawa’s alleged support for US military actions against Iran, characterizing Canada’s foreign policy as subservient to Washington.

 

In a post on social media platform X, Baghaei argued that Ottawa continues to appease the United States despite facing unilateral trade pressure and dismissive rhetoric from American officials. He noted that while Washington treats Canada as its “51st state,” imposes tariffs, and directs public insults at the country, Ottawa’s position remains compliant.

 

“Meanwhile, Ottawa participates in the U.S.-led unlawful war of choice against Iran, to appease Washington!” Baghaei stated. Using an ice hockey analogy to describe the bilateral dynamic, the Iranian spokesperson added: “This is not Hockey Night in Canada; it is Washington’s farm team.”
