WANA (Jul 24) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson has called on five  Persian Gulf Cooperation Council (PGCC) member states and Jordan to officially clarify remarks by the commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), who claimed they assisted the U.S. military operation against Iran.

 

Speaking on Thursday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei shared a video of the CENTCOM commander’s comments, saying the U.S. official explicitly named five PGCC countries and Jordan as participants in the American military campaign against Iran. Baghaei said that if the claim is false, the governments concerned should publicly and unequivocally deny it.

 

In a post on X, Baghaei added that if Iran, acting under its right to self-defense, targets U.S. military bases and logistical assets located in those countries, questioning why Iran took such action would be unjustified.

 

He further argued that the root cause of regional instability is the military attacks carried out by the United States and Israel against Iran.

 

According to Baghaei, any participation in those operations—including by providing operational support or facilitating military action—constitutes an act of aggression under UN General Assembly Resolution 3314 and violates the principle of good neighborliness as well as Article 2(4) of the UN Charter.

Baghaei concluded by saying that Iran’s defensive actions are aimed at restoring security and stability across the region.
